QIDI Technology Dual Extruder Desktop 3D Printer Review
The QIDI Technology Desktop 3D Printer is a fantastic 3d printer that was first brought to the market in early 2015, but has been developed over the last few years to ensure it performs. It comes with a dual extruder and has a print area of 9”x5.9”5.9”. It uses ABS and PLA filaments and comes with a metallic body.
The design is really sturdy and rugged and doesn’t bend or warp during the build process. It’s quite simple to put together, although it is a lengthy process. The instructions are fairly clear and guide you through the process well, so even newcomers to the game shouldn’t be too confused or overwhelmed, though it can be a little difficult to get the screws as tight as they need to be. It’s pretty simple to level the bed, even between jobs, both when the plate is hot and cold.
The print quality is very good with this printer, and for the price point, you won’t really find much better. Occasionally, you may have to recalibrate and pause a job, but the quality of the prints is very good, and very consistent. The prints have good detail and are very smooth, and you won’t find any annoying levelling, as you often can with other printers. It is worth noting that you should remove your prints from the bed when they are complete, as they can otherwise stick to the bed. The bed can heat only to 110 degrees Celsius, which might be of important to some.
The touch screen that comes with the machine is very easy to use, although the machine can be prone to jams. This seems to be the major issue with this one, so if you’re looking for something that isn’t going to require maintenance, this probably isn’t the one for you. To clean some parts of the printer, you also might need a small file or knife, as things can get a little clogged. It’s also a little noisy, but only marginally more so than other printers on the market.
It’s also of note that the customer support is very good, so if you’re seeking a company that’ll solve any potential problems that you may have, these guys are a good option. The software that comes with the printer is quite intuitive and easy to use, but it can sometimes feel a little cumbersome, with an outdated look. That said, it does create great models, so although the aesthetic and design can feel old-fashioned, it certainly doesn’t perform in any archaic way.
The designs that come with the software are very interesting and you have plenty of selection. The main thing you’re getting here is value for money 3d printer. If you’re looking for a relatively low-cost machine that produces consistent and quality prints, this is what you get here. Yes, it’s not for experts and professionals, and is best for those who are fairly new to the game, but it is an excellent example of what a low-cost printer can do. It doesn’t have the options and versatility of more expensive options, but this is a prime example of a good value machine.
