The Ultimaker 3 3D Printer is a great choice for professionals and those who are serious about their printing. The printer comes in two models, the Ultimaker 3 that comes with a maximum print volume of 8.5 X 8.5 X 7.9 Inches and the Ultimaker 3 Extended which comes with a maximum print volume of 12 x 10 x 16 Inches.
The Ultimaker has been designed as a professional 3d printer and therefore it has the potential to print exceptionally well, but at the same time it's not exactly cheap, however if you’re willing to splash the cash on something that’s good quality, then it’s absolutely worth the investment.
It has a dual extruder and can print with a wide variety of filaments, including PVA, PLA, ABS, nylon and CPE filaments, so if you’re seeking versatility and something you can experiment with, this printer is a great option.

You can also use filaments from other companies, which is always a nice touch. What’s also good with this one is that whatever material you use, none of them should stick to the print bed. The models won’t shake during the printing process and shouldn’t produce any – or certainly many – misprints.
For such a good quality printer, the setup is really easy with this one. There are a couple of small things you have to install yourself, but it’s really minimal and user-friendly, and it shouldn’t take you more than an hour at the very most. If you value simplicity and you want something close to a plug and play, you’ll really like this one. The print levelling is manual – and if you’re accustomed to 3D printing, you’ll know how much of a welcome addition this is.
The technology that comes with this one is fantastic. The interface is great and offers plenty of options via an LED screen. The program and app are both really simple and give you lots of nice options for experimentation and exploration.
The prints themselves are of truly fantastic quality, and this sort of technology really demonstrates how good a 3D printing job can look. Your prints will be smooth, sharp and defined, so if you want good quality, this is a great option. What’s also nice is the added camera, so you can use the software to watch your print in process.
This is quite a satisfying experience, and makes printing a real pleasure. Once you print, you do need some force to remove the print from the bed, but it shouldn’t result in any damage, which it sometimes can with other models. The one downfall of this one is the print speed. It is unfortunately substantially slower than some other machines on the market, but the print quality definitely makes it worth it. Yes, your prints are going to be slow, but they’re also going to be excellent.
Overall, what you have here is a great printer that really demonstrates what 3D printing can be about. It does have a couple of flaws, but the print quality is almost unbeatable, the software and setup are easy to deal with, and it has lots of nice features and touches that really add to the whole experience. If you want a fantastic 3D printer, you’ve found it.
